Wittering

• The bus service from Wittering is a little sparse.  You really need to be organised.  The bus stops do have a timetable on them, which seems to be up to date.
• The 3 bus stops are - Opposite spar shop(St. Georges Road), outside post office (Townsend Road) and Parker Road,
• You can also catch a train from nearby Stamford.
• The buses operating are the No.9 service by kime & Co. and the 404 service operated by First Choice Travel.

There are 3 main hospitals within this catchment area.  Be careful which GP surgery you join.  Stamford comes under Lincolnshire and Wittering under Cambridgeshire.  Both PCT's have different funding and allow different treatment options. 

Stamford Hospital has a 9-5 Accident and Emergency department.  For 24 hour A&E you go to Peterborough District Hospital.  Edith Cavell Hospital has some wards and out patient services but no A&E.  There is a very good walk-in centre next to Asda in Peterborough open until 10pm.

• Queensgate, Peterborough - Shopping mall in Peterborough centre, loads of parking, free on a sunday.  Shops include: Marks and spencers, john lewis and Waitrose.
• Downtown, Grantham - Shopping warehouse type of thing with 2 huge shopping areas.  One area has furniture, clothes, bags especially cheap radley bags!  The other area has garden and pet stuff.  Free parking and only 20 minutes from Wittering on the A1.
• Serpentine Green, Yaxley, Peterborough - Out of town shopping area with 24 hour Tescos. Free parking and shops include next, Boots, holiday hypermarket, food hall and WH Smith.
• Springfields shopping centre, - Outlet area, cheap parking and includes a marks and spencers, hallmark, costa coffee, clarks and many others.  Plans for 10 more stores opening soon.  Also get a water taxi into Spalding.
  

Stage 2 is a warehouse type store with discontinued lines from a catalogue store.  Really useful and it has different items every week. Stage 2, Saville Road, Westwood,

Argos clearance warehouse (Weldon North Industrial Estate, Corby ,Northants, NN17 5DZ) - is on the road to Corby, it is opposite the Argos distribution centre.  It has a huge sign hanging on the outside which looks semi-permanent.  It has old Argos stock at reduced prices.  Again it is a warehouse and you need to search quite hard to find good items.  it has everything argos has, it sometimes has the old catalogue numbers and photos.

Hyperama , Padholme Road East, Peterborough PE1 5XL- is a cash and carry warehouse which has electrical goods and oriental food items.  Useful to have a look.

Bookers again is a cash and carry, mainly food items. Morley Way, Shrewsbury Avenue, Woodston Ind. Estate, Woodston, PE2 7BP, 01733 231941
